When the male Spartan begin training at the military at the age 7,they would enter the Agoge system.The Agoge system was design to encourage discipline and physical toughness and show the impotance of the sparta state.Boys lived in a communal messes.

Birth and Death
Shortly after birth,the mother of the child would bathe her child into a wine to see if her child is strong.If the child looks healthy and strong,it was to be bought to the Gerousia(Council of the elders)by the childs father or the mother.The Gerousia then decides whether it was to be reared or not.If it was considers"Puny and deformed",the baby was to be thrown into the chasm on Mount Taygetoes,to be killed.The most chances of the decision that the elder made was to be reared.
Government of Sparta
The only way in those years ,to became the citizen of the Sparta was to be a descendent of the original Doric who had invade and settled the city.Non citizen were kept in a strong military created by the council.
There were two important kings,one from each of the Agiad and Eurypontid families.The kings of Sparta were automatically members of the Geroussia,which was a council of 28 elders picked for life,and plus the two kings.One led the army and one had the responsibility of the city.

Daily life in Sparta
Childhood
Children in Sparta lived with their mother to the age 7.They slept in wicker basket or wooden cradles.Children played with balls,rattle,rocking horse,doll,and animals made from clay.Many kids had pets,especiallydogs.Other pets include ducks,quails,bird,goat,tortoise,mice,weasel and grasshoppers.
Sparta Camp
Boys were sent to military camps to train.They were bought to the military camp at the age 7.They learned how to read and write when they were 14.Reading and writing skills were taught as secondary skills.The government made boys tough.The boys slept on hard bed made of reeds and were not given any covers.They were not given enough food but stillenough to survive.They were trained in survival skills and how to be a good soliders.Between the age 18-20 each of the boys had to pass a fitness test.If they did not pass the fitness test,they would become Perioidos.This is when a person is in a middle rank class,who had no political rights and was not even considered as a citizen.If they had passed,they would serve in the military and continue to train as a soliders.They are allowed to get married and go home at the age 30.

Marriage
In sparta,girls were not given a special celebration on her wedding.The ceremony was a briefand private.Afterwards the husband and the wife would meet in a secret until the husband reached the age 30.At the age he is allowed to live the same house as the wife.
